Prior to using the public or local Cloud Foundry platform it is required to install the Cloud Foundry Command-Line Interface (CF CLI). Installing the Cloud Foundry Command Line interface This tutorial will however not describe these steps and is based on a fresh STS installation. If you already have an existing Eclipse installation you can add the STS as extension instead of installing it from scratch. The import, build and deployment of the application is done using the Spring Tool Suite (STS).
The application to be deployed is taken from the Pivotal Getting Started samples. The PCF Dev is a light-weight implementation of the full PCF setup that can be run locally and is very suitable for implementation and testing. The blog post will guide you through the process of registering for a public PCF account as well as the setup of a local PCF development (PCF Dev) environment. The overall goal is to set up the local and public cloud configuration and deploy the same sample application to each one.
